1 September 2010: The Centre of Social Media Innovations for Communities (COSMIC) has been launched. The founding member institutions of COSMIC are the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The centre is supported by the multi-agency Interactive Digital Media Programme Office (IDMPO) hosted by the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore. IDMPO was established in 2006 under the mandate of the National Research Foundation (NRF) to deepen Singapore’s research capabilities in interactive digital media (IDM), fuel innovation and shape the future of media.
